Happy New Year!
Well the 2011 show is starting to take shape. There will be many upgrades including a new Mega Tree and some other surprises. I've been busy soldering together new controllers and ordering new lights which I think will take the show over the top this year. If your interested in doing your own light show or helping with this one keep a watch on the website as I will have an announcement in the regard shortly.
Well I had my first south east Michigan Mini on the Saturday May 28th 2011 and it was a great time. Although there where not a lot in attendence (6) everyone learned a lot and had a good time. We started out going over a little history about lighting and CXhristmas light and then when into the nuts and bolts on how animated lighting works. There was a time spent on hardware, software and lights including the new RGB strings. I thought for sure I would have way to much time left before the cook out but to my surprise we ran out of time. While everyone talked to each other about the new information that had just learned I got the grill going and cooked up some burgers and hot dogs while my wife (I can't thank here enough for being a great hostess) put out home made backed beans and potatoe salad along with the fruit and vegetable trays everyone had been snacking on all afternoon. Everyone left about 6pm (we started at noon!) full of food and knowledge. Since this came off well I am thinking about trying to do one again either this fall or next year, if you might be interested send me an email and I'll put you on the list.
Well where almost into August and I have continued to move ahead with planned upgrades to the show. Currently the new mega tree lights are almost finished a look very impresive. The new controllers are all soldered together and about 1/3 of them are in there cases and complete. The are a couple of things still holding back the show, one is lack of funds for lights and the second is waiting for the update of the software I use to run the show. On the light issue I invested a lot more money into the mega tree than I orininally planned and that with the continued bleek economic times we are in I was unable to get in on any of the presales many of the light wholesalers have so I will have to wait till lights show up in the stores and see what the budget will allow then. The software used to run the show is going through a major re-write and is planned to be released at the end of this month but no word yet on the cost of the upgrade and untill I have the software I can;t even start sequencing any songs. Will have more updates as I have more information to share.
